People ask about the name before they ask about anything else, so let me start there.
Halfell comes from a simple idea: halfway up the fell. That point on any climb where the easy ground is behind you, the summit still isn't in sight, and the only way through is to keep moving. It's the part nobody photographs. It's also where doubt starts to creep in, legs start to burn, your mind starts to question, and the kit on your back gets heavier.
The word has a weight to it that I liked from the start. It sounds Nordic, almost—big, solid and built to last. That felt right for what I wanted to make. Not throwaway gear, but kit you trust enough to stop thinking about, so you can get on with the day.
Why does Halfell use a beetle emblem?
The beetle might seem an odd thing to put at the centre of an outdoor brand. Beetles are among the most adaptable creatures on earth, at home in heat, cold, wet and rough ground alike. They turn up and cope wherever they are. That's exactly what I want from a piece of kit: whatever the conditions throw at you, it should simply work.
What does “Endure More. Fear Less.” mean?
Everything sits under those four words. It isn't meant as a motivational quote. It is about being prepared enough that hard ground doesn't frighten you—trusting what you're wearing so your attention can go where it needs to go, and pushing a bit further because you are not fighting your gear to do it.

How Halfell designs outdoor clothing
Halfell is small and run by one person, which is me. I handle the design, fabric choices, testing and emails. The range is deliberately short because I'd rather get a few things genuinely right than fill a catalogue for the sake of it.
That approach began with the Fellguard Hardshell Jacket: a three-layer waterproof shell built for sustained use in cold, wet mountain conditions.
A lot of the thinking and testing begins in the Forest of Bowland, where quiet moorland and changeable weather make weak decisions difficult to hide.
